Old people are so funny

While shopping with Zoe today, she started making peeps and squeaks. And elderly woman said, "Oh, I know that sound. That's a new one." I acknowledged her and adjusted Zoe's carrier in the cart. As we passed by, the woman craned for a look and said, "Oh, that's not a real baby." Huh? I said, "Oh, she's real. Trust me." And kept walking, 'cause really, what the hell.

Snippets of Newborn Rearing

  • If you want to see some very focused, wide eyeballs, have your toddler come upon you pumping. Said toddler may later say she's so proud of you making more milk.
  • TMI Alert: Postpartum recovery involved feminine sanitary products. When seen putting these in your underwear, your toddler may say, "Sorry you hurt your underpants." Not a time to try to explain, just say 'thanks' while stifling your giggle.
  • You'll be certain your newborn's nasal passages drain into her mouth when she is nursing and milk is running out of her nostril, dripping all over you. Also when spit-up becomes nose-up.
