Sushi - finally

After foregoing raw fish for the better part of a year, the sushi-fast was broken. Thanks to Grandma Chris' offer to babysit, Brandon & I got our first post-natal date. Amazingly, there is a decent Japanese restaurant in beautiful downtown Ridgecrest and there was plenty of room at the sushi bar last night. We tried to take pictures but the feeding frenzy was such a flurry of chopsticks and wasabi, none turned out. I was a little overzealous when I instructed the chef to make the Red Dragon roll "all the way" hot, but otherwise it was a perfect meal and good practice for our next trip to our truly favorite place in Oxnard - Yokozuna. Babies like sushi, right?

Hey, well of course they must...babies in Japan eat it all the time, right? Most of my students say that sushi isn't an everyday type of food, though, but reserved for special occasions. Mmmmm...making me hongry--I'd say this moment is special. Keep up the great pictures of that li'l cutie!

  2. Babies think food is neat and will try everything. Preschoolers think everything is "disgusting." So try the sushi early and often.
    Additional food tips from VM:
Never refrigerate juice boxes or she will flip out if you are out of cold ones.
Never cut off the crusts or use white bread. They have no clue until they see other kids eating crappy crustless sandwiches.
Give her a taste of everything when she is starting on solids cuz you never know when a baby will be a big fan of bruschetta.
Never use that disgusting guttural "qwkwqwkwqwkwq" sound that signifies yuck. She will copy it and use it often.
